What You'll Learn

Students in the Master of Science in Sport Management (MSSM) Program will learn from the best. Our MSSM faculty hold terminal degrees in the field from accredited institutions, and each faculty member has professional experience working in the sport industry. In addition, faculty have been recognized for teaching excellence and have distinguished themselves in scholarship. Beyond the classroom, faculty members work in community service and are active in professional organizations.

The program includes courses in Sport Administration and Governance, Economics and Financial Aspects of Sport, Sport Management, Critical Issues in Sport, and more. A successful business career in sports requires a variety of skills related to innovation leadership and project management, which is why we’ve made it possible for students to earn a graduate certificate in one of these areas to help them stand out from the crowd.

Where You'll Go

A Master of Science in Sport Management degree prepares graduates for job opportunities in business management and leadership, athlete representation, event production, project management, market research, and more. Graduates will go on to jobs in intercollegiate athletic administration, professional sport administration, sport facility management, sport communications, sport event planning, sport agencies and more.

Sport management is the application of business principles to the sport industry. As an academic discipline, sport management is dynamic and focuses on sport-specific concepts within the framework of business and management. Ethical, social and legal theories are also used to examine issues that are unique to the sport industry. In the MSSM program, hands-on skills and expertise serve as cornerstones of the curriculum, so that our graduates are Business-Ready® for opportunities that come their way after completion of the program.
