Biography

After more than 20 years of teaching Chemistry and Biology, I currently teach Health Sciences at 91女神. I am passionate about health, wellness, and exercise science and value opportunities to engage students in meaningful classroom discussion. These are topics that can be applied to everyday life, and my goal is to help students build greater awareness for lifelong health.
My professional background began in nursing, which continues to enrich my interest in healthcare education and conversation.
Originally from Detroit, Michigan, my family and I have lived in Western North Carolina since 2003. Education

 • Ph D, Liberty University
 • MED, Wayne State University
 • MS, Wayne State University
 • BS, Wayne State University

Teaching Interests

My teaching interests center on health and wellness, behavior change, nutrition, physiology, body composition, and the prevention and management of infectious and chronic disease. Because my doctoral research focuses on behavior change, I am especially interested in helping students understand the factors that influence lifelong health choices. I value creating learning experiences that not only build knowledge, but also encourage students to apply course concepts in practical and meaningful ways.

Research Interests

My research interests focus on behavior change, lifelong health and wellness, and the factors that motivate sustainable lifestyle improvement. In particular, I am interested in motivational peer influence, nutrition, and exercise behaviors among undergraduate students. My work explores how practical strategies, mentorship, and lived experiences can encourage healthier choices and support long-term behavior change. I am especially interested in connecting research with meaningful real-world application in health science education.
